Verizon VCAST

VCAST service from Verizon Wireless delivers upon
the long advertised promise to utilize the data
rates available with 3G wireless technology to make
streaming video and other broadband content
available to cellular phone users. The current VCAST
offering delivers upon that promise and more with an
exclusive selection of content which can all be
downloaded at speeds similar to that of broadband
DSL.
VCAST Content
What good are fast downloads if there is nothing
worthwhile to download? Fortunately that question
does not need to be answered as this service
from Verizon comes well stocked. Among the offerings available to VCAST
subscribers are video downloads, music downloads and
even 3-D gaming. A few highlights:
Video Content: Dozens of
new broadcasts are available each day including:
Sports from ESPN, SI, Fox Sports,
NASCAR and VCAST Sports
Entertainment from Comedy Central,
CBS, ABC, E!, MTV, VH1 and more
News from CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC and the
Weather Channel
Portable Music: VCAST cell
phones can download music you already own from your
home PC or be filled with albums and tracks purchased
from the Verizon music catalog while on the go.
Portable Gaming: The last component of the VCAST entertainment trifecta
involves games which can be downloaded to the phone. The selection of games is large and
diverse covering the spectrum from Duke Nukem to
Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf. Use of the games,
however, does incur an additional charge above and
beyond that for the normal VCAST service.
Getting Started with VCAST
VCAST service costs $15/month and
is available nationwide in nearly 200 metropolitan
areas covering 150 million people so there is a
great chance the service is available in your area.
If you already have Verizon Wireless service and your
phone is capable of supporting the service, a
customer care representative can quickly enable the
service right over the phone for you. On the
other hand, if your Verizon cellular phone does not
support the service or you are currently with
another wireless carrier, you would need to upgrade
your phone to a
VCAST capable phone. The Motorola RAZR V3c represents an excellent value in this category. |
